Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney
Chief Mike Rogers (ret.)
The Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney is one of five constitutional offices established by the Constitution of Virginia (Article VII, Section 4) for each locality. This office is responsible for prosecuting criminal offenses against the Commonwealth of Virginia, thereby vindicating victims’ rights and protecting the rights of citizens to live in a peaceful community. Joan Ziglar has served the people of Martinsville as their Commonwealth’s Attorney since 1998, and since that time crime rates have dropped precipitously.
