Serving the Community

Joan Ziglar has proven willing to serve the community in whatever capacity she is needed. Here are just a few of the places she has spoken and the projects she has assisted with.

Helping Engage Youth (HEY)

HEY (Helping Engage Youth) has the following mission statement:

Engaging youth and families to make positive lifestyle choices and prevent substance abuse in Martinsville and Henry County.

HEY and CHILL (Communities Helping Improve Local Lives) provide positive alternatives to youth. One such alternative is the annual Youth Rally. The Youth Rally brings youth through a maze full of real-life scenarios with various consequences. HEY and CHILL also have an annual conference to educate the community about current trends in the drug culture. If you have any interest in becoming a part of HEY, please contact the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
HEY for more.

Internship Program

The Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office has sponsored over a hundred local young people with summer internships. These internships provide constructive activities for youth and useful experience for transferring to college and career opportunities.

These interns have gone on to college, law school, and other places, where their experience at the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office has proven profitable.
